Happiness is a warm TV

'My Name is Earl' cancelled; 'Chuck' teams up with Subway

"My Name is Earl," which stars NC native Jaime Pressly (left), has been cancelled. According to Entertainment Weekly, Ethan Supplee, who plays Earl's brother Randy on the NBC sitcom, confirmed the news via Twitter.

ABC has cancelled the very funny Christina Applegate sitcom "Samantha Who?" but apparently they are interested in picking up "Earl" (Fox may also be interested). ABC also officially renewed "Scrubs." Excuse me while I go bang my head against a wall.

Okay, I'm back. Also cancelled: "The Unit" on CBS and "Medium" on NBC. But -- "Medium" is apparently moving to CBS, home of the popular but much lighter ghost show, "The Ghost Whisperer."

CBS veteran show "Without a Trace" is officially cancelled, as well as Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles."

In some good news, NBC has made a deal with Subway sandwich shops which keeps "Chuck" off the scrap heap, so the guys at the Buy More will be eating a lot of $5 Footlongs when the show returns in March 2010 (after the Olympics). The shop next to Buy More, which supplies secret agent Sarah with her cover job close to Chuck, was a hot dog restaurant in the first season and a yogurt shop this past season. So the Subway deal does make a lot of sense.

"Law & Order," "Southland," and "Heroes" are also renewed on the Jay Leno Network.

Yay Law & Order

Glad it got to make 20 years. Why can't they just let Scrubs go?
I wonder why the networks think all some of these shows need is a new network?

Yay Chuck... Boo Earl

I am very happy that Chuck made it another season... I just hope the network doesn't abandon the program and is just running it into the ground with the Subway deal.

On the other side, I am sad to see Earl go. That was an awesomely funny show! I sure hope that ABC picks it up.
