Mount Airy police throw "Otis" in the clink

Bookmark and Share

Barney Fife would be the first to tell you that you have to nip crime in the bud, and that's exactly what Mount Airy police believed they were doing when they arrested "Otis" impersonator Jimmy Slate in April. Slate, who often dresses up as the lovable town drunk character from "The Andy Griffith Show" and plays checkers outside his son's store in downtown Mount Airy, was arrested for obstructing the sidewalk. Slate and the police disagree over the circumstances of the arrest.

You can read all the details at the Winston Salem Journal.

We just hope Slate made the most of his time at The Rock and maybe got a little rehabilitation while there...
