Lost recap 6.10 - "The Package"

Luci Chavez gives us her thoughts on this week's episode of "Lost."

Still choosing sides in this Jin & Sun special.

SPOILER ALERT

Island via night vision goggles. Black Locke (Terry O'Quinn) chitchats with Jin (Daniel Dae Kim), wanting to know if Jin knows about the cave with the names and his possible "candidacy." Jin does but wants to know, "Kwon? If it's me or Sun?" Black Locke doesn't know but knows he has to gather all the people with names still uncrossed off on the wall and take them to Hydra island. (Now if Black Locke gets them all to go, that means the island is no more. No one to protect? No powerful, spooky island.)

LAX. They're letting Jin go at the airport, but they're keeping the $25,000. Jin's worried because he missed the meeting where he was supposed to deliver the watch and the cash for Mr. Paik. Sun's daddy is going to be mad. At the hotel, Jin insists he and Sun (Yunjin Kim) check into separate rooms. Oh man, they're NOT married in WITPHCAR! (So Jin is Kwon and Sun is Paik so Jin is the Kwon they mean?)

Island at night. Sayid (Naveen Andrews) looks awful. "Anger.
Happiness. Pain. I don't feel it anymore." (Sayiiiiid! Come to the
liiiiiiiiiiiight!!) Black Locke actually thinks that's a good thing,
to help him get through the REAL bad stuff. (Yikes. It gets worse?)
Over on the other side of the campfire, Jin gets up to go, to leave
Black Locke, telling Sawyer to come with him. "Y'all are cracked if
you stay." (Well it didn't say it like that but you get what I'm
saying.) Either way, Jin is taking the bull by the horns. He's going
to the temple. He's grabbing Sun and they're out.

Cue the poison darts. KOREAN DOWN! IRAQI DOWN! WHITE GIRL WITH STRANGE
TRACKING SKILLS DOWN! AUSSIE WITH BAD WIG DOWN! SAWYER DOWN! Then that
Zoe woman shows up. "We've got him." Him being Jin. Damn it.

Island. On the beach. Frank and Miles are playing cards. Ben and Ilana
are cleaning guns. They're all waiting for Richard, which seems
awfully passive for that group. They're relying on Hugo to bring him
back. Wow. "Unless Richard is covered in bacon grease, I'm not sure
Hurley will find him." That puts Sun over the edge. She slams down her
knife and bolts for the garden and starts pulling up some onions or
parsnips or something like that. Jack tries to talk to her but Sun
isn't really having the "destiny"  speech (speech No. 3 in the Foxy
canon). (Ooh, gross. Jack needs a bath. Why they gotta make him look
ugly? That's not cool.)

Los Angeles. Jin goes to Sun's room.  Jin says he's going through with
the assignment. Sun disapproves but invites Jin into her room. Jin is
like, what the heck do you care, you're just here to shop. (Oh, Jin.
You chauvinist, you. WRONG thing to say, mon cher.)  "Is that all you
think of me? How about telling me to button my sweater?" Sun's
unbuttoning her sweater now, daring JIn to object. Jin is not
objecting. Is that Marvin Gaye I hear in the background?

Island garden. Black Locke comes up to tell Sun he found Jin. "I
promised to reunite you. He's with my peeps." Don't go with him, Sun.
DON'T GO. Sun questions Black Locke's trustworthiness, reminding him
about murdering people at the temple. "I didn't want to," he replies.
Nice try. "Please come with me. Jin is waiting."

See Sun run. See Sun run far. See Sun face-plow into a tree. See Sun
fall. See Sun fall hard.

Los Angeles. Post-coital Sun and Jin and Jin ain't wearing a shirt.
(It's the small things, people. Seriously.) They chat about being
together until they hear a knock at the door. Wait, did Sun just tell
Jin she has secret money and they should get married? Jin hides. Sun
opens door and it's Keamy (Kevin Durand).  "I'm a friend of your
father's. You have something for me."

Island. Ben goes to help Sun except now she's back to speaking Korean.
That tree knocked the English right out of her. Over in the jungle,
Black Locke arrives back at camp to see all his folks shot with
tranquilizer darts. Sayid comes to and looks around like what the
heck! Black Locke demands to know where Jin is. Heck if Sayid knows.

Hydra Island. Well, turns out Jin is locked up in some room. He tries
to turn off the light to see if that helps. It turns on some movie
flashing messages with really loud audio. Zoe comes in and explains
this is Room 23, where the Dharma people did experiments with
subliminal messages. She tries to tell Jin he's safe. But Jin ain't
hearing it. He tries to bolt. Doh! Tazer to the shoulder. KOREAN DOWN!

When he comes to, Zoe tells Jin she wants him to read some maps
showing where the electromagnetic power pockets are on the island. Jin
says he ain't doing jack for her until she takes him to Charles
Widmore.

Island. Claire gets salty with Black Locke. Girl, I would be, too, in
that wig. She wants to know if her name is on the cave wall. No. So
you don't need me, she tells BL. BL claims he still needs Claire.
"There's plenty of room for you in the airplane." Oh man, what a line.
Except BL is still chasing Kate and her name has been crossed out on
the cave wall. "I'm three people shy of getting us off this island and
Kate can help." (If you're keeping track, Sayid, Kate, Sawyer on one
side. Jack, Hugo, Sun on the other. Jin is in limbo.) Now Sawyer is
salty, asking questions. Where you going on the outrigger? Black Locke
says, "They took one of us (Jin) and I'm going to get him back."

Los Angeles. Sun gives Keamy the watch but he wants the cash. "No
English," Sun begs off. Handy. Someone isat the door. It's Sayid's hot
brother Omar. Keamy notices two champagne flutes. He opens up the
bathroom door and there's Jin flashing his abs.

Keamy tries to talk to Jin and Sun but there's that language barrier.
They decide to call in Mikhail, who knows Korean. You know, Mikhail.
Patch? Yeah, you know him. The guy who blew up Charlie, may he rest in
peace. Sun explains how the money was confiscated at the airport but
she offers to go to the bank and get them the money. Mikhail takes Sun
to the bank. Keamy takes Jin to the restaurant. Jin knows he messed up
and begs Keamy not to tell Mr. Paik. Keamy gives him this steely, hard
look like "I'm 6-6 and you're not.”

Island. Ben is wondering why Ilana doesn't believe him about Richard.
"Because you're speaking." (Hee hee hee!) Sun is still speaking
Korean. Jack's diagnosis? The bump on her head is causing this. (Dr.
Jack, rides again!) Richard comes back with Hurley and says let's go.

Hydra Island. Locke and Sayid arrive. They get shot at. That kid from
Kate & Alley comes out of the jungle. Then Daddy Widmore shows up. (Is
it me, or is he rocking an Australian accent? OK, no. Now it's
British.) "Where's Jin?" Black Locke wants to know. "How the heck
should I know?" Daddy Widmore says. Locke declares war on Widmore.
That didn’t take long.

Island.  Richard says let's go back to Hydra because we gotta stop
Locke from leaving on the plane. We gotta destroy the plane. Then Sun
goes off. Seriously, it's two minutes straight of Korean ass-whupping,
talking about how there's no way they're destroying her only chance to
get off the island. That’s Daddy Paik’s daughter right there.

Los Angeles. Bank. Sun's super secret bank account is closed. Sun is
surprised but her dad is Mr. Paik. Why is she surprised? They find out
Daddy Paik closed it and took the money. Sun is surprised. Again, why?
Mikhail says, "Why do you think? Because he knows about you and that
professional door opener." Come on, Sun!

Los Angeles. Restaurant. Omar is manhandling Jin. Keamy keeps talking,
which is nice because he's got some bass in his voice. Keamy tapes Jin
to a chair and keeps talking. "I don't think you realize how unhappy
Mr. Paik was when he found out about you doing Sun. And that $25,000?
It was a fee for busting multiple caps in your booty. Cardinal rule:
Hands off the boss’s daughter. But you? The heart wants what the heart
wants."

Man, Keamy is huge. Anyway, it's a great speech but Jin obviously
doesn't understand because he thanks Keamy. "Some people just aren't
meant to be together," Keamy says before leaving Jin locked inside the
freezer.

Hydra Island. Widmore is talking to Jin. He sends Zoe away. Widmore
gives Jin a camera he found in Sun's luggage. Oh man, no. Oh dear
Lord, it's pictures of Yeon. Jin has never seen his daughter. (Tears).
Widmore plays the daughter card. I have a daughter. I know how it is.
Jin's not having it. Widmore says the Jin-Sun reunion won’t last long
if Black Locke leaves the island. "Everyone we know and love would
cease to be. I came to make sure that does not happen." Widmore says
it's time to see "the package.” Not a “what” but a “who.”

Los Angeles. Stuck in the fridge, Jin hears shooting. Yeah, that has
Sayid written all over it. Sayid opens the door but isn’t really
interested in Jin but Jin does convince him to help him get away.
Sayid gives Jin the knife so he can cut the tape himself.  Meanwhile
Mikhail takes Sun to the restaurant. Sun sees the guys Sayid took down
and starts freaking out.

Jin has a gun on Mikhail. Then he gives Mikhail an elbow to the face,
then a bullet to the eye. (There's your eye patch.) During the
firefight, Sun gets shot. As she bleeds and Jin freaks out, she tells
him she’s pregnant.

Island. Hey, Foxy! Jack is telling stories about old patients. Long
story short, he gives Sun a pen and notepad and it turns out she can
write in English. Then Jack gives Sun a tomato. How gentle!

Jack wants to know if she trusts him. She’s like, of course, Foxy.
Then Foxy reverts to type so quickly I get whiplash. Here comes the
hero maneuver. "Sun, come with us and I'll help you find Jin. I'll get
you off the island with Jin out. I promise." He holds out his hand to
Sun. She holds his. And for the first time in two and a half seasons,
Jack smiles.

Elsewhere in the jungle, Sawyer and Kate chit chat. James is worried
but pretending otherwise. “I’m feeling like it’s almost over.  What if
Widmore didn't kill Locke? Then we’re screwed.” Oh, Black Locke. There
you are!

I missed some of the next bit except where Sayid appears out of the
water, right at the sub dock. Someone is getting manhandled on the
dock. Turns out Desmond is the package. Brotha’s face is hanging right
at the edge of the dock when he catches an eyeful of Sayid’s too
serious mug right above the water line.
