Happiness is a warm TV

Jennifer Neilsen's father asks for help on "Steve Wilkos Show"

Bookmark and Share

Jennifer "Jenna" Nielsen was murdered on June 14, 2007 as she restocked USA Today newspaper boxes outside a convenience store on Lake Wheeler Road in Raleigh.

The murder has never been solved. Today, her father, Kevin Blaine, appeared on "The Steve Wilkos" show to ask the public for help in solving her murder.

After some protracted baby daddy nonsense on the show, Blaine's father came out to tell Wilkos about what happened to his daughter and where the case stands. He explained that his 22-year-old daughter, who was 8 1/2-months pregnant at the time, was jumped when she exited her car, was dragged behind the store, and then stabbed to death.

Blaine told Wilkos that he police have DNA and a sketch of the suspect, but they need the public's help. The family is doing everything they can to keep the unsolved murder in the public eye.

Wilkos asked Blaine to tell him about Jenna, and her father said she was the life of the party all the time, loved to be the center of attention, and "was a great kid."

Wilkos told Blaine that he hopes someone watching will have some information to help. Her father made a heartfelt plea to anyone in the Raleigh area or anywhere in the country to please help if they have any information. He said the police have done all they can do, but now he needs the public's help.

"Think if this was your daughter," he said, his voice breaking. "Just need the help, really."

Wilkos, a former cop, offered his sympathies to Blaine and wished him the best in solving the case and finding some peace.

Blaine had not seen his son-in-law and grandsons in almost a year because they live out of state now, so Wilkos brought the family out for a little reunion. The little boys grinned and yelled "Papa!" and climbed into Blaine's lap.

Blaine thanked Wilkos for having them on the show, noting that it will only take one phone call to solve this case.

The family has set up a website, justice4jenna.com, where people can go to learn more about the case or make contact if they have helpful information. There's a $15,000 reward offered for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the killer.
