How to see CBS programming during ACC Tournament

Bookmark and Share

Update, Friday: I had someone at WRAL look over this post on Thursday to make sure  everything looked right, but I still heard totally different information about Thursday night shows on WRAL's 11 p.m. newscast. So ... if you taped a bunch of stuff last night and your Thursday shows weren't there, just set the DVR to tape the same block again tonight. The info for catching tonight's shows (overnight Saturday into Sunday am) should be correct.
*******************************************************************
The first round of the ACC tournament starts today at noon on WRAL, and while most of us are excited about the beginning of our annual "Great Cocktail Party," others will lament the preempting of CBS soaps, games shows, and talk shows.

The good news is that you can still see the shows on TV; the bad news is it's a tiny bit complicated (a less complicated alternative is CBS.com).

So, here's the deal for watching your Thursday shows on TV:

"The Bold and the Beautiful," "The Talk" and "Let's Make a Deal" will air both today and Friday on over-the-air channel 5.2 or Time Warner Cable Channel 106.

"The Young and The Restless" will air on the regular WRAL channel overnight tonight. WRAL recommends you set your recording device to record from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. to catch those.

For primetime programming tonight ("Big Bang Theory," "Person of Interest," "The Mentalist"), also set your DVR to record the regular WRAL channel.

WRAL says for "The Big Bang Theory," set your DVR for 3 a.m. to 4 a.m. on Thursday but there's another episode airing on Friday. (Confused yet?)

For the dramas, they recommend setting the DVR for 3 a.m. to 6 a.m.

***To be safe, I'd just set the recorder for 2 a.m. (if you want Y&R) to 6:30 a.m. and don't watch the stuff you don't want need.

For Friday ... follow Thursday's instructions for daytime programming, but for Primetime programs ("Undercover Boss," "The Mentalist," "Blue Bloods"), set your DVR to record

Friday's primetime programs – "Undercover Boss," "The Mentalist" and "Blue Bloods" –  are scheduled to air on WRAL early Sunday (overnight Saturday -- don't ask me why).

Again, just record from 1 a.m. (Daylight savings!!!!) until 6 a.m. to get everything.

And remember -- you can always go to CBS.com to watch a lot of this stuff online.
