Golden Globe Awards: Shhhh!! I'm trying to talk here!

Tom Brokaw introduces a clip of the film Frost/Nixon.

Colin Farrell (who had a bad cold and had to point out that his sniffles weren't from "the other thing it used to be") gives the award for Best Foreign Language Film. The winner is Waltz with Bashir from Israel.

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Aaron Eckhart give the award for Best Actress in a TV Movie or Mini-series. HBO, anyone? Laura Linney wins for her role as Abigail Adams in HBO's John Adams. I wish someone from John Adams would say Frank Doelger's name, since Tom Wilkinson couldn't remember it.

What the heck is with all the shushing tonight? Gerard Butler, there to introduce a clip of In Bruge, also shushes the crowd before he begins speaking. Is that the third shush tonight?

Seth Rogan makes a questionable joke about how he wishes he'd been there in the 80s so he could have done cocaine with Mickey Rourke. Then he and Elizabeth Banks give out the award for Best Screenplay for a Motion Picture. The winner is Slumdog Millionaire.

More TV stuff now! Amy Poehler and Patrick Dempsey (swoon) give the award for Best Actor in a Comedy. Alec Baldwin wins for 30 Rock. That was a tough category (Steve Carrell and Tony Shalhoub also in there). Alec says he feels old because he can remember when he used to bring Rumor Willis a juicebox on the set of his movie with Demi Moore. No laughs. I thought it was kinda funny.

Boy!

You're really into this. I don't think I've ever seen  this many posts on one topic. I'm just waiting for the email telling me I won the contest. I won't bother with actually watching. Although the UNC game isn't going too well right now. There's a new channel on TWC that shows MGM movies in HD. I've seen some interesting old movies on there. Well, happy watching!

lots of little posts

Yes, welcome to live-blogging. It's a long show!
