Happiness is a warm TV

First night of 'Lost' — exhausting

The ending of the second episode reminded me that the numbers (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42) have something to do with the end of the world. And the look on that woman's face at the end was more than a little scary. So it means that Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Aaron and Sun are responsible for saving civilization? Heavy.

I'm grateful Hurley has had some relief from his angst. I'm glad his parents are supporting him.

I did find the two hours overwhelming. The constant time-jumping is going to bore me very quickly if some other people don't show up soon and figure in the final outcome.

The ones that made appearances last night were kind of annoying. Ethan? Come on. Random Dharma people? Please. Although, seeing Dr. Halliwax do some real work was fun. I'm assuming we will see more familiar faces. But, I'm warning you, Claire and Walt better show up soon.

GOOD TO KNOW ... Desmond will be returning to the island at some point and will continue to be important. (So he's the only one that isn't subject to the island's chronological whims? I guess those three years stuck in the hatch paid off.) That Foxy won't ever get back to L.A. and, thus, will never again show up wearing a suit. (It's wrong to hope. I ripped the bandaid off.) That Kate is acting like her old self. Jack shouldn't be the only one to lose his mind.

SIILL TO COME ... I glossed over the Sawyer and Juliet shenanigans in both episodes because Daniel was dominating the action on the island and that annoys me. Neither character did much — Juliet was calm, Sawyer said "Son of a b$%&@" alot — to assert themselves as leaders on the beach so there's still work to do.

Nice symmetry though. Jack, was the doctor, and Kate the criminal at the beginning. Now it's Juliet and Sawyer playing the same roles in the new location. I guess that's also why I'm unimpressed. Foxy must have saved 10 lives and Kate had given Jack stitches and offered to go on a jungle mission or two by the end of the second episode. You knew they could get things done before you knew them.
