Duke student accepts "Simpsons" challenge on Food Network

Bookmark and Share

Second-year Duke Law student Andrew Blumberg will appear on the "Simpsons Mystery Cakes" episode of "Food Network Challenge" tonight at 8pm.

Blumberg earned a spot as one of the show's four Simpsons Superfans, and was paired with a professional cake designer to create a cake in the likeness of one of the show's main characters: Homer, Marge, Bart, or Lisa Simpson.

Blumberg told the Duke Law News that to qualify, he showed how he had incorporated "The Simpsons" into his everyday life. He says he is currently working on a project at Duke with Professor Barak Richman creating a dvd which explains contract law using clips from "The Simpsons" tv show.

This episode of "Food Network Challenge" commemorates the 20th Anniversary of "The Simpsons" tv show, but the network held a similar cake competition for the release of "The Simpsons" movie in 2007. The winner of that competition won $10,000 and a trip to the movie premiere in Hollywood.

The winner of tonight's challenge also wins $10,000 and also a gold medal. Yeardly Smith, the actress who lends voice to Lisa Simpson, is one of the judges.

Blumberg his hosting a viewing party (with cake!) tonight at the Law School's Star Commons.

"Food Network Challenge" airs at 8pm tonight on the Food Network.
