Dancing with the Stars: Mya's domination and "who is Adam Ant?"

Bookmark and Share

Once again, the Happiness bloggers elected (begged) my mom to be our Dancing with the Stars correspondent. After each show, she calls me with her report...

We're down to five couples, and those remaining had to do two dances again last night -- gotta keep filling up those two-hour time slots! They did a Ballroom round and a Latin round. Plus, there are some big time guest stars and a special feature on tonight's show.

Keep reading for my mom's recap, predictions for the next elimination, and info on tonight's show.

"Mya and Dmetris did the Quick Step as their first dance. It was amazing! They've been having a hard time trying to satisfy Len, but he loved it. He thought it was great. They got a 29 (Carrie Ann gave them the nine). Their next dance was the Samba. They had to draw a number out of a hat and the number represented a decade, like 70s 80s 90s whatever. So they had to do a 70s Samba. They just put a little 70s touch on it. I was not crazy about it but the judges loved it and gave them a perfect score of 30. Maybe I'm not into the 70s, I don't know. But their total score was 59.

"Aaron and Karina's first dance was the Fox Trot. Karina was sick so she was not at her best. She's fighting the flu. She had a fever and was sweating and didn't feel good. She and Aaron wore face masks during the rehearsals. Aaron had on purple velveteen pants and vest with a pink shirt with one of those big collars again. I just do not know who is dressing him. The other men do not dress like that. Their Fox Trot was just okay. They got a 23. The second dance was a 90s Samba. It was good. He almost threw up. I don't know what that was all about. They asked him what was wrong and he said "I almost threw up," so apparently he was not feeling good by the end of the dance. I couldn't really tell what was going on, I guess I missed that a little bit. They got a 27 on that one, so they have a 50 total.

"Joanna and Derek did the Quick Step first. That dance is very fast and it wasn't great. She missed a bunch of steps. When she has to actually dance she's not that good and she doesn't get good scores. When she's twisting and turning she gets good scores. She got a 23 last night. For their second dance they did the "future" Paso Doble. It was fantastic. Derek's choreography was amazing. The judges loved it. Len said he was concerned about that dance, about the "future " part of it, because he couldn't figure out how they were gong to pull it off, but that it was amazing. It was almost robotic, but she didn't miss a single step. They were both in step the whole way. They got a 29. Total was 52.

"Kelly and Louis did the Fox Trot first. It was good. I think probably the cutest thing was in rehearsal, she has these little dogs and one is this little black dog who is so fuzzy you can't even tell what it is. He followed her all around. And she has so much stuff that it distracts her so Louis brought in a big trunk and had her put all the stuff in it and made her put her dogs out of the room. She was upset about it at first but it did help her do better. They got a 25. The second dance was the 60s Jive. It was okay. She had some missed steps. She's so cute to watch. She's not the greatest dancer, but she puts a lot in it and she tries really hard, so she usually pulls it off. They got a 26 so their total was 51. The judges like her.

"Donny and Kym did the Viennese Waltz first. I thought it was very good. I thought it was just very graceful and smooth and I really liked it. Len said it was too arty-farty for him. They got a 26. The second dance was an 80s Paso Doble. I guess the 80s was Donny's kind of time. He said he had a mullet in the 80s, and I think he was trying with the costume to look like Adam Ant, so it was pretty wild." Do you know who Adam Ant is? "No, who is Adam Ant? They said Adam Ant. That's what they said. But anyway, the dance was just wild. It wasn't bad, it was just wild. But they had a good time. They scored a 24. So they got 50 total."

"Tonight they are gonna have Michael Buble and Susan Boyle, but the best thing is they will have Kenny Mayne and Jerry Rice with DanceCenter. That's always my favorite.

"I don't know who will go tonight. I'm going to say Aaron Carter will probably go. If two go home again, which I doubt, I'll say Kelly or Joanna. I can't imagine it'd be Mya because she's so good, but I don't know about her fan base. But that quick step she did was amazing. The judges seem to think she doesn't take risks, that she takes the easy way out. I don't know. I just know she's so graceful and when Derek was trying to show Joanna some stuff, he showed her a tape of Mya and told her to watch Mya's posture and how she glides. If he's using her as role model, he must think she's pretty good too."
