Dancing with the Stars: Aaron Carter and Mya shine brightest

Bookmark and Share

Once again, the Happiness bloggers elected (begged) my mom to be our Dancing with the Stars correspondent. After each show, she calls me with her report...

Sorry for the late recap, folks. It's my fault, not my mom's.

Last night was the first night the men and women danced on the same show together. Judge Len was not there, so Baz Luhrmann filled in for him. My mom reports that the dancers only had four days to learn the new dances, and it was a struggle because they had four-and-a-half weeks to learn the previous dances.

Here's what happened:

"Aaron Carter and Karina did the Quick Step and he was very, very good. His footwork was perfect. I was surprised because he was a little argumentative with Karina in rehearsals, and usually it's the other way around. They got a 27, which was one of the highest scores. He did a very good job even thought I don't like him very much."

"Chuck Liddell did the Tango with Anna. And I like him, I think he's a nice person, but he's just not a very good dancer. He was in the fight mode and he was very fierce in his dance."

"Donny Osmond and Kim did the Jive. It was really good, and the judges loved it. He got a 25, he did a really good job."

"Louis Vito danced with Chelsea, and he did the Jive. It was fun and you can tell he was having fun. He did pretty well, and he is SO cute. He's short -- he's probably about five feet tall but he's cute as a button. He got a 19."

"Mark Dacascos and Lacy did the Quick Step. He was not bad but he slipped. He made a good recovery and ended up with a 21, which was not a terrible score.  The judges thought he was better than I did. I thought he was kind of stiff."

"Michael Irvin and Anna did the Quick Step and he was a lot better than he was last week. He didn't talk to himself this week in the mirror. He got a 20."

"Tom DeLay and Cheryl did the Tango and his foot was hurting, but he said he was going to dance till it broke. But in the end, he almost dropped Cheryl. It was not pretty. Everybody kept asking him if he was okay but I was thinking someone better ask Cheryl if she's okay. The look of pain on his face was obvious. I was looking at him wondering if he was getting ready to have a heart attack, but it was that his foot was hurting so bad. His score was 18."

"Debbie Mazar and Maks did the Tango. In rehearsal, Maks was back to his yelling and he had her in tears. Then he apologized and they made up and got a 21. She did pretty well."

"Joanna Krupa and Derek did the Jive. Of course, she had a lot of twisting in it. She danced better than she did last week, but I'm still not crazy about her. She got a 20."

"Kathy Ireland and Tony did the Quick Step. There really wasn't too much to the dance, I think I could have done it. It was pretty bad. She got an 18."

"Kelly Osborne and Louie did the Tango. She made a lot of mistakes and had a lot of missteps so she didn't do as well as she did last week. She had a lot to live up to because last week she was so good. She only got a 19 but she was tickled because she said she wouldn't have given herself a 19. She knew she didn't do well.

"Melissa Joan Hart and Mark did the Jive. Her footwork was really bad. Mark was outstanding, as usual. I really hate that he didn't get a better partner this year. They got a 19. Mark was dressed as he often is with his pants too short and white socks showing, and Tom asked him if he bought his socks at Neverland.com."

"Mya and Demetri did the Jive and it was great! They got a 27. She's a good dancer and she's danced in the past. I actually think she's done a lot of dancing --not ballroom dancing, but she can dance. Some people can move really well when they dance and it's really natural, and some people look like they are stomping. She's very smooth and I love her dancing. She got a 27 -- same as Aaron Carter.

"Natalie Coughlin and Alex did the Quick Step. She's really cute to me. But she was having a hard time because in her swimming, she holds her breath a long time. She can hold her breath for two minutes under water, and she forgets to breathe when she's dancing. Alex had to keep reminding her to 'breathe, breathe, breathe,' and when she'd breathe, she didn't look natural. I thought she did well, but then I like her. She got a 21."

So Aaron and Mya are the frontrunners and high scorers going into tonight's results show, and Tom DeLay and Kathy Ireland were the weak links. Will one of them go home tonight, or will the fans save them?
