Adrienne told us yesterday about how Clay Aiken slammed fellow "American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert on his blog Thursday. If you didn't click through to the Gawker site to read the entire rant (which has now been deleted from Clay's blog), you may have missed some juicy backstory about Clay being tossed from the "American Idol" set when he showed up there recently to meet Lambert.
According to The Chicago Sun-Times, Aiken showed up at the "American Idol" set and was not exactly welcome. He wanted to talk to Lambert about teaming up for a duets album and concert tour, but was not allowed anywhere near Lambert. (Yes, this is the same guy whose singing Clay said on his blog almost made his ears bleed.)
The Sun-Times said Clay "showed up uannounced but expecting VIP treatment," and quoted an Idol staff member as saying "'Everyone knows -- and certainly Clay knows -- he's persona non grata around here.'' The reason? Because Clay was the first contestant to dump Idol's management company, 19 Entertainment, and apparently talked Kelly Clarkson into doing the same.
The staffer said, ''To say the least, it was tense around here when Clay showed up -- and boy, did they hustle him off the premises as fast as possible. If he didn't get the hint after that -- he never will.''

Sat, 05/23/2009 - 16:07 — ImissNCYou are just gossiping for fun , right ? As a researcher you do know that the tall tale about Clay Aiken not being welcome on the Idol set is from that bastion of truth , The National Enquirer , right ? But this is just a blog so the truth doesn't matter as long as it is a juicy tidbit . Got it .
Source is Chicago Sun-Times
Sat, 05/23/2009 - 22:14 — brookecain (author)I don't read the National Enquirer and I didn't see this article there. Maybe it's there, maybe it's not. I did see it in the Chicago Sun-Times, and they do not say "according to..." anyone.
Access Hollywood also reported the story on the MSNBC site and it is credited to Chicago Sun-Times, not the National Enquirer:
Aiken’s blasting of “Idol” and Lambert comes after a Chicago Sun-Times report that he reached out to Lambert earlier this month about collaborating on a future project. Aiken reportedly showed up unannounced on the “Idol” set and was given the cold shoulder by the staff of the FOX reality competition. An “Idol” staff member told the Sun-Times that the show is not happy with Aiken for leaving 19 Entertainment, the show’s management company.
