Tonight at 9, ECW champ and Cameron native Matt Hardy is in on the joke on Syfy's "Scare Tactics."
The show, if you're not familiar, is a half-hour reality prank show, where folk set up their unsuspecting friends for horror hoaxes. It's hosted by Tracy Morgan of "30 Rock," whose dead-pan brand of insanity works just right.
On the second hoax of the night, a guy named Mike is set up by a friend. Mike is doing a try-out at a institution that houses violent criminals. Hardy plays a criminal that breaks out of his restraints and seems ready to kill hoax victim Mike.
Hardy, by the way, was part of the Hardy Boys, along with his brother Jeff. In the wrestling story line, Matt and Jeff have split up; Matt betrayed his brother, according to his wrestling bio:
Devoured by jealousy and resentment, Matt made it his mission to essentially destroy his sibling - a task that included a high speed car crash, a pyrotechnics backfire and a housefire that resulted in the demise of Jeff's own dog. Perhaps the greatest loss served to Jeff by his own blood, though, was his defeat to Matt at the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania.
With a newly tailored look and attitude to match, Matt moved to Monday Night Raw in the 2009 Draft.
Then, as part of the blockbuster trade following Donald Trump’s purchase then re-selling of Raw in June 2009 to The Chairman, Matt Hardy moved to SmackDown. What will unfold now that he’s back on Friday nights with brother, Jeff?
In real life, there's Hardy drama too, but it's mostly Jeff. In September, Jeff Hardy was arrested at his home Cameron on a list of charges that included trafficking in prescription pills and possession of anabolic steroids.
He's scheduled to be in court in November.
