Bill Friday interviews Raleigh fixture Richard “Gus” Gusler on the “North Carolina People with William Friday” program tonight on UNC-TV.
In the interview, taped earlier this spring, Gusler talks to Friday about his time at N.C. State University in the 1960s, where he served as student body president and demonstrated for civil rights and against the Vietnam War.
Gusler also talks about his career as a sports and entertainment lawyer, and about working with his most famous client, the South Carolina band Hootie and the Blowfish.
Gusler may be just as well known these days as the man who saved “The PR” — The Player’s Retreat bar and restaurant, a popular local institution near the N.C. State campus where Gusler once worked to help pay his way through college.
The “North Carolina People” episode featuring the Gusler interview airs at 9 p.m. tonight and again at 5:30 p.m. Sunday on UNC-TV.
Repeats on the UNC-MX channel will air Saturday at 3 a.m. and on Tuesday, June 19, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
