You know for a minute there, it looked like she might go.
Laura, her pal and fellow potential evictee, wasn't going without a fight.
But in the end, our girl Jordan's sweetness was their weakness.
We're live and Julie Chen looks pretty good in her shiny orange cropped pleated swing jacket and white pants. The hair seems to get bigger as the pregnancy progresses.
Russell is relieved that he's not on the block. Kevin notes that the popular clique, of which Laura and Jordan are a part of, are not popular on Big Brother.
Jordan says she feels betrayed by Ronnie. He completely fooled me, she says.
Laura notes that it would be dumb for Ronnie not to send her home. She's a tougher competitor than Jordan.
Talking with Jeff, Jordan agrees with Laura. She says that Laura is a better player because she's smart. Jeff, a true friend, is honest but gentle. He tells her, no offense but, yes she is.
It's time to look at this special relationship between Jeff and Jordan. Jeff says that Jordan is his relief, she makes him smile. Jordan says that they are a package. He is her best friend in the house, has a good heart. In fact, she says, he's a boy version of me. Except maybe not as dim. (She didn't say that last part, it's an observation.)
Laura, in her quest to not get evicted, works on Ronnie. She tells Ronnie that if he keeps her he can avoid having two people (Jordan and Jeff) that will go after him. Laura says she is a better ally than Jordan. She tells Ronnie that Jeff can be better controlled without Jordan by his side.
Ronnie says he might get some of the others to switch their votes, but the hardest person to get to flip will be Jessie. He tells Laura to tell Jessie that she won't vote to evict him if Jessie helps her.
Ronnie talks to Lydia, Chima, Natalie and Kevin and says he has a bombshell. He talks to them about evicting Jordan instead of Laura. Lydia adamantly says no. So does Natalie.
So Ronnie decides to take the opportunity to throw Russell under the bus.
He tells them that Russell said that he had the votes to save Laura. Natalie gets up abruptly and leaves, determined to find out if that's true. She goes to Jessie and tells him what Ronnie said Russell said. They call out Russell. Are you rallying votes for Laura, they ask. He denies it.
Jeff overhears their conversation. Soon Laura is out by the pool too and so Natalie asks Laura if she said that to Ronnie. Laura says she didn't. She says they should get Ronnie and Russell out there and find out the truth.
Ronnie is confronted. Laura asks Ronnie whether he said that she said that Russell said he had the votes to save her. Ronnie doesn't deny it, he just says he won't be put on the spot.
Laura gets emotional. Don't throw me under the bus when everybody hates me, she says. Her tears don't move Ronnie. He sticks with his stance and says he promised Laura he would not tell what they talked about when they were alone.
Because Ronnie is being evasive, it's startis to occur to the others that Ronnie has been playing them like the proverbial fiddle. The realization of this causes much bleep-enhanced discussion. They all attack Ronnie. Russell tells Ronnie: You are going home next week.
Ronnie says, to the camera, of Russell: I should have put his ass up. Ya think?
Casey informs us that Ronnie has been hiding in the HOH room since the blow up, surviving on chips and candy. He does look fatter, but it could be the horizontal stripes.
An announcement calls Ronnie to the diary room. He reluctantly leaves the HOH suite. Russell has decided to torture Ronnie. He follows closely behind him whenever he comes out the room, calling him a rat, taunting him, telling him he should have sent Russell home, generally acting like what a lot of muscle-bound athletes in high school act like, especially toward geeks.
It gets so bad that Natalie and Jessie start to feel sorrow for Ronnie and say it's a shame he is being confined to his room because of Russell's taunting.
In his room Ronnie weeps. He caresses a picture of his wife and talks about how much he misses her. She is his best friend; he realizes that now more than ever. She would know what to do, she would have advice.
Live again, Julie asks Natalie about the mood of the house. Natalie says it's tense and crazy but that this week they are more united than last week. There's tension but it's all directed toward one person.
Time for some filler. We relive seeing the men in drag from last week's game show. Julie asks who wore it best. Michele thinks Jeff's rack look good as a cheerleader. Kevin votes for Casey.
Now it's talk for a private talk with Ronnie. Julie informs us that in the blogosphere Ronnie is known as the square root of all evil. (Actually it's just on one blog.) She asks him that if he's seen all the BB seasons and he sees that playing both sides usually gets a player in trouble, why take that risk? He says the difference is that he had a true alliance with the athletes. She asks why he didn't eliminate Russell. He says it was too early; if it was week 3, yes, but he really trusts his alliance. She talks about being sequestered in the HOH room. He says his wife knows that he has survived on less while playing video games. He says being in the room was a ploy for sympathy anyway and we shouldn't believe what the houseguests are saying, 5 of them are on his side.
It's time to beg. Jordan, in a short ocean blue halter dress, says that it's been a crazy three weeks but thank God they found the rat or she would need a therapist. She clarifies that she does want to be in the house because someone had put the word out that she didn't. She wishes them all luck and says they are all so Gucci. (I don't know what that means either.) She tells Casey that she'll be in line getting a Big Mac.
Laura is next. She says it was fun getting to know them and regrets that some lies stopped her from knowing some people. She asks that when they cast their votes that they do what's best for the game. She wishes them luck and says if voted out she can't wait to see them at the end.
The vote. Ronnie and the potential evictees can't vote. Everyone but Natalie votes to evict Laura.
Laura in strapless red hootchie wear with obligatory white strappy heels takes her bag through the door and talks to Julie. Laura says she was happy to get the one sympathy vote. She says the fact that Ronnie was gunning for her may be because of Jordan; that Jordan may have unintentionally told Ronnie some things Julie told her in confidence. She says she's happy she got to take him down with her. She thinks that he went after her instead of Russell because she was an easier mark than Russell.
It's time for the HOH competition. Laura hopes Jordan or one of the Offbeats win.
The game is called Buzzworthy and it's basically skeeball, with a see-saw launcher and buckets with point values. The houseguests have to launch the balls into the buckets, arranged in a hive shape, and try to get the most points. The high score gets the HOH charm.
Michele get 4 pts; Jessie gets 6pts; Kevin gets 5pts; Natalie gets 2pts; Lydia gets 1 pt; Russell gets 5pts; Chima gets 3pts; Jordan gets 1 pt; Jeff gets 6 pts; Casey gets 1 pt.
Tie Breaker between Jessie and Jeff. Jessie gets 6 pts; Jeff gets 3 pts.
Jessie is HOH again.
Before we go, Julie lets us know that Casey's son turned one while he's been in the house. He holds back tears while explaining that he couldn't miss this once-in-a-lifetime event -- being on a reality show in a house full of fools. He notes that his son may be walking.
My head hurts.

Assistant Features Editor Adrienne Johnson Martin would like to have her life turned into an animated cartoon.

Fri, 07/24/2009 - 05:41 — jlblackmIs it really necessary for whoever writes your headlines to give away what happened in the episode so succinctly? Not everyone has an opportunity to watch the show when it airs (thank you TiVo) and we'd appreciate being able to read the web version of the paper without having to worry about having an entire week worth of Big Brother ruined by a single headline.
