It feels kind of sad to be typing this on Valentine's Day, but it looks like there will be no romantic happy ending for Chapel Hill's Emily O'Brien.
At least not in the world of engineered, reality show romance.
Emily, a Duke graduate and current PhD student at UNC-Chapel Hill, made it to the final five in the reality competition show, but was eliminated in last night's episode. Her nemesis Courtney Robertson is still in the game (and internet rumors indicate bachelor Ben Flajnik actually proposes to that witch).
Before being dismissed, Emily got a one-on-one date with Ben where the two trapped lobsters. Later, they ate the lobsters they caught, danced, and kissed. Emily called the date "magical." Ben also seemed to enjoy the date. He described it as "awesome" and said Emily was "smart and witty and overall just a great person."
"I can see myself loving this woman," Ben said.
So, what happened?
Ben went on a date with Courtney the following night and Courtney told him if he advanced Emily to next week's hometown date, he would be "less attractive" in her eyes.
So there you go. If Ben ends up picking Courtney at the end of this mess, he gets what he deserves.
