"The Biggest Loser" already is off to a rousing start (thanks Tracey!), but I say you should still leave room on your TV schedule for another weight loss reality show, Lifetime's "DietTribe." It starts tonight at 9.
It's the show's second season. Last time, the premise was 5 friends -- all over 200 pounds --- who set out to lose 30 pounds before one of the friends' wedding.
This time it's five friends, two are sisters, who are trying to lose weight and -- hunky trainer Jessie Pavelka's surprise -- compete in a triathalon. Four aim to lose 50; the last friend is only 5 foot 2, so her goal is 35 pounds.
Of course, it's all about the back stories. The sister are thisclose. They went to nursing school together, had a double wedding, moved into a home together with their husbands, and started having children at the same time. Both of them had gastric bypass surgery and gained most of the weight back.
Another friend is 27 and has battled weight all her life; she finally has a boyfriend who doesn't judge her, but she'd like to feel better about herself. The short friend stands on the sideline while her family enjoys an active, athletic life without her. The last friend, now in her second marriage, wants to let go of the pain of her divorce and reclaim her identity.
Jessie is still his supportive but all-business-like self. Warm, fuzzy therapist Stacy Kaiser is back too. And there are some celebrity special guests like chef Cat Cora and swimmer Diana Nyad.
This year too, there are 8 one-hour episodes up from 5. Episode two gets pretty deep; sisters = drama.
It's a good show; you can enjoy this and have your Biggest Loser too.

Assistant Features Editor Adrienne Johnson Martin would like to have her life turned into an animated cartoon.
