Guest blogger Chloe Paterson gets to say goodbye:
Anoop’s coming home!
…
Ryan has a live shot from backstage and he still hasn’t let the contestants forget that there is a double elimination tonight. He says the judges don’t have as much to do tonight because the save has already been used - when do they ever do anything important on elimination nights?
Paula choreographed the Idols’ group song for tonight. She seems to be in her element when she’s in the dance studio. Too bad she isn’t a judge on “So You Think You Can Dance”. The contestants give her flowers after the performance. In case anyone was wondering who buys Matt Giraud ringtones, he does…
The song title for the Ford Music Video, “I’m Good, I’m Gone”, is so ironic. Anoop is a great singer. Ryan tells the light guys to “dim the lights” before telling Lil she is in the bottom 3. Ryan followers her to the other side of the stage, but instead of saying that more people will join her after the break, he announces that she’s going home tonight. Was the shocking thing that Ryan was referring to just an elimination in the middle of the show? The judges are confident that she will have success in the future.
Freda Payne, Thelma Houston, and KC and The Sunshine Band are in the studio to perform a disco medley. They definitely hit their peak in the 70s and 80s, but their singing makes Simon smile.
Ryan tells Kris, Adam, and Danny that they will not be eliminated tonight. Changing the mood, he tells Anoop to join the bottom 3, which is really just a bottom 2 and Lil, then tells Allison she is also in danger. She doesn’t seem scared at all and walks/dances over to the stools singing, “here it goes, here it goes, here it goes again.” This time the voters, not the judges, save Matt.
David Archuleta performs the song “Touch My Hand” off his debut album. It sounds a bit like when he tried to sing contemporary pop songs last year - not his best. He’s still really humble, though, and encourages Allison and Anoop saying that Idol is just the beginning of their careers.
The most votes of any night this season were received last night, and they aren’t in favor of Anoop. His final performance is great; both contestants left on a good note tonight! Anoop is disappointed, of course, but excited to be returning to Chapel Hill!

So, the voters gave "A Nope"
Thu, 04/23/2009 - 09:56 — RacquetSo, the voters gave "A Nope" to our Anoop and we have to say, "Bye, Bye Desai". Hope someone sets up a meet and greet for our man when he gets back to Chapel Hill - many of us would love to thank him in person for his class act on this season's American Idol.
