Rogue Facebook app tricking thousands of users

Computing security form Sophos has issued a warning to Facebook users on a rogue app victimizing hundreds of thousands of users.

The scam lures victims with a message similar to "Teacher nearly kills a 13-year-old boy. SHOCKING!," promising to show a video of the attack. It then take's control over a user's Facebook profile page to further spread itself by appearing on the victim's Facebook wall.

Sophos warns the app, which has access to  users' names, friends and profile pictures, could have more a malicious next stage and urges users to remove the app.
