Charging with Wi-Fi, Sooner and cheaper than you may think

One of the most promising and innovative displays at CES was from RCA. The company's Airnergy WiFi Harvesting Charger is so cool it is simply hard for me to believe. The current incarnation is a battery roughly the size of a sleek candy bar phone that gets charged by a common Wi-Fi signal and charges devices via USB. These are signals that are more or less ambient today. Collecting energy that would otherwise be wasted, it is virtually free.

3 Free Android social games

You don't see many Android related posts here. We have a couple of Droid users in the office, but Apple's app store is a Goliath compared to current Android offerings. We'll work to harder to include more Android content and share useful tips that we discover. Like these 3 free multiplayer games.

More on Sanyo hybrid electric bike

Sanyo is gearing up to peddle electric bikes here in the States. This assembly of gadgetry piques my interest more than the gaggle of e-readers and me-too tablets that have crowded the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show. The unit is a 26-inch, three-speed regenerative, pedal-assist hybrid electric bicycle.

Is that a banana you are speaking into? | strange appeal

This won't...appeal...to everyone, but for $10 (plus shipping) you can have the distinction of making calls with your very own banana phone cover. Embarrassed by that plain and tired looking cell phone? Unique style, thick protection and greater visibility are a few possible advantages I can think of. An optional holster is available. Have they considered a shoe phone cover?

Mercedes stunt video | Real or fake?

Tags: Tech Junkie | auto | cars

To promote their SLS AMG supercar, Mercedes has produced a video with a surging soundtrack and dramatic slow motion building to the alleged stunt. No doubt some of the scenes are scripted and produced. The the firemen seem cast and the scenes are much too well composed to be real documented moments. The stunt itself however could be real, but even if it is so what. I saw a fat man in a econo-car do the same thing just a couple of weeks ago. View the videos for yourself.

First touchscreen radar detector

Radar detectors typically tiny switches, buttons, LEDs and a volume knob. On a basic unit, it is not a problem so much. A touchscreen interface opens the door to easier interface, more features and better alerts.

iType, full keyboard for iPhone

On the surface the ION iType may seem silly, but if you step back and...no it still seems silly. I blogged earlier about a jailbreak app that allowed pairing with Bluetooth keyboards, but the iType does have a trick that trumps a BT setup.
