The latest iteration of Google's Android 4.0 operating system won the Gold Prize for best platform experience at Parsons' 2012 User Experience Awards.
The mobile OS rivalry between Google's Android and Apple's iOS has never been more intense. Predictably, Apple took several jabs at Android during its keynote address Monday at the World Wide Developers Conference.
Google has managed to overcome so many of the nagging issues that tainted Android at launch, but its seems its most difficult challenge has been getting its best work onto devices. That lies on hardware manufacturers and carriers.
As great as Ice Cream Sandwich is, it has reached relatively few devices which is a shame because it really is quite good. I've used it on a number of devices now - currently on an HTC One S from T-Mobile. As of June 1, Android 4.0 had only reached 7.1% of devices. Seven months after Android 4.0 debuted, I'm still waiting for the ICS update on my AT&T LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab.
