The great Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made." Fifty years ago English car maker Jaguar stunned the world with the E-Type. Today the XK-E looks as sensational as ever. The MOMA has one in its permanent collection.
Tests by British magazine The Motor during the year of the launch revealed a 0-60 mph time of 7.1 seconds, a top speed of 150 mph (fastest at the time) and over 21 mpg fuel economy for the original 3.8-liter powered car.
The basic car design soldiered through 1975 with tweaks though the original is regarded as Jaguars finest work.
