Six N.C. players among McDonald's top 35

Six former North Carolina high school basketball players are among the list of the Greatest McDonald’s All Americans. The list was released in celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the McDonald’s All American High School Boys Basketball Game.

Wolfpack adds defensive end recruit

N.C. State has picked up commitments from two defensive ends this week, including Sanderson High’s Desmond Owino, who had been committed to North Carolina.

Sanderson High football defensive end Desmond Owino has switched his college choice from the University of North Carolina to N.C. State.

Michael Dean Chadwick joins the Rangers

Michael Dean Chadwick, Josh Hamilton's father-in-law, has been named as a special assistant by the Texas Rangers.

Chadwick is expected to travel with the team and be an accountability partner to Hamilton.  When the Rangers acquired Hamilton four years ago, the club brought in Johnny Narron to be Hamilton's accountability partner. Narron has accepted a position as Milwaukee's hitting coach for the 2012 season.

Improving defense helps Wildcats win

East Chapel Hill had another good night passing the ball in its 35-28 win Monday night at Durham Riverside. With all the footballs flying at Linny Wrenn Stadium, it might be easy to overlook the improvement in the Wildcats' defense and special teams.

Due to rain and a soggy field at Linny Wrenn Stadium, East Chapel Hill's Piedmont Athletic 4-A Conference football game at Durham Riverside High School has been rescheduled for Monday evening at 7 p.m.

Cedar Ridge moves JV game to Cardinal Gibbons

The junior varsity football game between Cedar Ridge and Cardinal Gibbons, which was scheduled originally for Hillsborough, will be played instead at the Raleigh school's campus. Kickoff is now set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cardinal Gibbons field.

Cedar Ridge High School is renovating its track, making use of the Red Wolves' field impractical.

East Chapel Hill quarterback Drew Davis, the son of former University of North Carolina coach Butch Davis, has set a state high school record for completions in a single game.
