Submitted by jmikeblake on 01/13/2011 - 14:57Former Wake Forest-Rolesville and N.C. State defender Tyler Lassiter has been taken with the 30th overall pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by the New York Bulls.
Lassister was named all-state his senior year for the Cougars in 2005. He was also a second-team All-ACC player this season for the Wolfpack. During his four-year career with N.C. State, Lassiter started each of the 73 matches he played in. This past season, Lassiter led the Pack in points (18) and assists (6), while tying for the team lead in goals (6).
Clayton's Archer rated as Cub's top prospect

The right-handed, 6-foot-3 pitcher went a combined 15-3 at High-A and Double-A in 2010 with a 2.80 ERA, including a 1.80 ERA at Double-A.

The National Football Post reported yesterday that the Baltimore Ravens have signed Cary grad Scott Kooistra. Kooistra is in his eighth year in the NFL after being drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round of the 2003 draft.
