'Dancing with the Stars': A recap and some final thoughts

Here's a final word on this season of "Dancing with the Stars" from our correspondent, Lenni G, who is overjoyed with J.R.'s big win:

A thoroughly jampacked episode last night with Lady Antebellum for entertainment, performances from the nine stars who had been eliminated in previous weeks, and more dancing from the three finalists.

During the first hour of the show, Ricki and Derek, Rob and Cheryl, and J.R. and Karina each chose a dance they had done before and did it again.  Ricki chose her fantastic "Psycho" tango because it was just so fantastic we had to see it one more time.  Rob chose his dreamy "Fly Me to the Moon" foxtrot which he had dedicated to his father.  J.R. decided to show Len that the jive Len had called a lindy hop was really a jive.  Coming in first were Ricki and Derek with 30 points.  Second place went to J.R. and Karina with 28 points, leaving third place to Rob and Cheryl with 26.

At the end of the first hour, Ricki and Derek became the first finalists to be eliminated.  As I said yesterday, Ricki just didn't finish this competition very well, though the rest of her season was truly excellent.

DWTS: Final night of dancing reveals tight race for trophy

Our hardworking "Dancing with the Stars" correspondent, Lenni G, sends us her recap all the way from Arizona. That's dedication.

Two dances per couple tonight, one of which was a freestyle routine.  After watching the whole show, I have to think that just one dance would have been plenty.  I don't know if it was nerves or injuries but, with the possible exception of Rob's freestyle, the performances were pretty dern average for a finale night.

First up, Ricki and Derek with a cha cha and coaching from Carrie Ann.  The good news - Len thought the timing was right, Bruno said she'd never looked "hotter," and Carrie Ann loved the way she "lived the dance."  The bad news - all three judges commented that there were a number of moments when the dance went wrong.  Have to say the judges were right - the whole thing seemed a bit out of sync from the beginning.  Judges' scores - 9's from all three for a total of 27.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Robert Wagner arrested for murder

NCIS (8pm, CBS) - Boo! Fooled ya! Robert Wagner is arrested for murder but it's while he's playing Tony's dad on "NCIS." Wagner's character is suspected of murder when he's found in a car with a dead body and has no recollection of his actions. Tony is taken off the case, forcing him to disobey orders to prove his dad's innocence. Coincidentally, Wagner was just in the CBS lineup this past Saturday night, co-starring in an episode of "48 Hours Mystery: Vanity Fair Hollywood Scandal." On that show, a boat captain alleged that Wagner had a hand in the drowning death of his wife Natalie Wood in 1981. Awkward. (Note: That "48 Hours" episode was originally supposed to air this coming Saturday, November 26, but CBS rushed it to air a week early -- and so quickly that I didn't even know it was on. Here is the episode online.).

Dancing with the Stars (8pm, ABC) - The final three couples perform their favorite dance, and then the final two dance an instant samba before a winner is announced in the 13th season finale. Eliminated couples from the season return and Lady Antebellum perform.

Frontline (9pm, UNC-TV) - A report on the role that American citizen David Coleman Headley played in the 2008 terrorist assault on Mumbai, India, which left 166 people dead and more than 300 wounded.

Parenthood (10pm, NBC) - Adam's marriage suffers after he confesses to an inappropriate interaction with the hot new receptionist at work (he totally led her on!). Also, Julia and Joel meet Zoe's boyfriend.

Sons of Anarchy (10pm, FX) - SAMCRO must negotiate with the Irish Kings to secure the club's future. Things are getting intense. After tonight, only two more episodes left this season.

Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel (10pm, HBO) - Tonight, a report on a tennis Hall of Famer accused of molesting girls he coached, and a profile of Butler basketball coach Brad Stevens.

What to Watch on Monday: Conclusion of Woody Allen documentary

Dancing with the Stars (8pm, ABC) - The final week of performances for the season includes a freestyle number.

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - Ted and Barney make a life-altering decision, and Robin tries to talk Lily and Marshall out of moving to Long Island.

Enlightened (9:30pm, HBO) - A bad dream helps Amy face her feelings for Levi, but she also bonds with Tyler over loneliness issues after Dougie gets a promotion and Amy tries to set him up on a date with Krista's coworker.

Woody Allen: A Documentary (10pm, UNC-TV) - The conclusion of Robert Weide's profile of Woody Allen, which chronicles Allen's career from his days writing for Sid Caesar in the 1950s to present. The film features footage of him at home and on movie sets and includes a tour of his childhood haunts in Brooklyn. Also, remarks Diane Keaton, Martin Landau, Sean Penn, Chris Rock, John Cuzack, Larry David, Scarlett Johansson, Mariel Hemingway and others.

Hawaii Five-0 (10pm, CBS) - McGarrett goes to North Korea with Jenna Kaye to deliverf a ransom to rebels who are holding her fiance hostage. Meanwhile, Five-0 investigates the murder of an investigative reporter with ties to Jenna. Jimmy Buffett guest stars.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - A sniper goes on a murder rampage in the city and police struggle to find a motive before time runs out and another victim is killed. Also, Beckett's PTSD symptoms escalate, but she attempts to hide them from the team.

DWTS: No Hope for next week's finale

"Dancing with the Stars" correspondent with her take on last night's elimination:

A really good results night showcasing ...

Rob and Cheryl doing an encore of their fabulous samba from the night before.

Cobra Starship, featuring Sabi, with their big hit, "You Make Me Feel".  LaLaLaLaLa.  LaLaLaLaLa!

Derek and Anna with the Design A Dance routine - an unbelievable paso doble that I've now watched at least three times.

On to the results ...

DWTS: Three dances each from four remaining couples

A recap of Monday's night's "Dancing with the Stars" from our correspondent Lenni G. Tune in for tonight's elimination show at 9 p.m. on ABC:

It's semi-finals night and, of course, we must have THREE DANCES from each couple!  The first round featured a paso doble or a samba.  The second round was all about the Argentine tango, complete with lifts!  The final round was a "Cha Cha Relay" with all four dancing one after the other to the same continuing music.

DWTS: The inevitable fall of Grace

Our "Dancing with the Stars" correspondent Lenni G has the details of last night's expected elimination:

We had all sorts of entertainment last night - As Tom Bergeron put it, "All of our women" started the show with some fabulous choreography.  Daggone, these ladies are really good!

Andrea Bocelli sang "More" accompanied by trumpet player, Chris Botti, and the dance troupe.  Not sure "More" was a great song choice for Andrea.  Flo-Rida dropped by for two songs, "Club Can't Handle Me" and "Good Feeling."  Don't think these songs would have worked for Andrea either.

DWTS: Judges signal Nancy Grace's time at the ball may be up

"Dancing with the Stars" correspondent Lenni G with last night's recap:

We have another two-dance night with all the couples doing a fully choreographed dance first and an "instant" jive second.  So what's the instant in instant jive? Well, the couples know it's a jive but they don't know what the music will be until about 20 minutes before they have to perform it. I love this concept!

Rob and Cheryl started the night with their quick step. Len thought the beginning didn't work but once they went into hold, he felt the whole thing came together. Bruno thought Rob was "speedier than a drag race car." Carrie Ann commented on Rob's polish and elegance, and how much he's improved. I'm with Tom Bergeron who said Rob's good dancing was "the best thing this week for any Kardashian." Judges' scores - 9's from all three for a total of 27.

Rob and Cheryl's instant jive had no glaring mistakes according to Len. Bruno loved the great pace. Carrie Ann thought Rob was in control on the dance floor. I liked it! Judges' scores - 8's from all three for a total of 24 and a grand total of 51 for the night.

"Dancing with the Stars" results: Did the wrong person go?

"Dancing with the Stars" correspondent Lenni G on last night's surprising elimination:

Who says screaming is only appropriate on Halloween?  Justin Bieber, aka The "Biebs," was in the ballroom last night singing "Never Say Never" as well as a song from his new Christmas album featuring Boyz II Men as his backup singers.  Very nice.

Team Paso (Ricki, Rob, Hope and their star partners) got the encore spot and looked really good again.

Christina Perri provided the music for Victoria-Rose, a young dancer recovering from a life threatening brain tumor.  Very inspirational.
