The Carolina RailHawks announced today that they have agreed to terms with Ivory Coast native and 2008 RailHawks leading scorer, forward Hamed Diallo. Diallo will be donning RailHawks' orange for the 2009 season pending USL and USSF approval. “Diallo is an excellent forward,” said RailHawks head coach Martin Rennie. “He has proven himself to be a tremendous asset to the RailHawks in only half a season and I look forward to coaching him this year.” Hamed Diallo was acquired by the RailHawks, in July of the 2008 season, from the Rochester Rhinos in a three-way trade that saw Jamil Walker go to Portland and Andrew Gregor head to Rochester. His acquisition paid dividends immediately as he was named to the USL-1 Team of the Week following his two assists in his first two games as a RailHawk. He proceeded to be named to the best eleven of the week two more times including being named Player of the Week in the final week of the USL-1 season. Last season, Diallo led the RailHawks in points (17) and goals scored (7) in only 16 games played having arrived midway through the season. Over the next few weeks the RailHawks will announce more key signings. Fans will have a chance to welcome him back when the RailHawks host the New England Revolution in the “Community Shield Match” on Saturday, March 14.
