No score at half

Bookmark and Share

It's halftime at WakeMed Soccer Park, and there's no score between Monterrey and the RailHawks.

Monterrey hasn't done anything terribly threatening, though their counterattack has been dangerous.

The RailHawks had their best chance to get on the board in the 17th minute. On a counter attack, Santiago Fusilier spotted Martin Nunez making a diagonal run from the left. Fusilier played him into space. Nunez had a step on his defender, and as he reached the top of the penalty area, Monterrey goalkeeper Christian Martinez came off his line and tackled him. On the ensuing free kick, Nunez's shot went wide right of the frame. Nunez was tackled again, this time in the box in the 35th minute, but no foul was called.

Carolina goalkeeper Brian Levey had a very good half. He has four saves, his best on a 20th-minute free kick. Monterrey's Luis Perez hit a swercing shot from 18 yards that got around the wall. Levey flew to his left and tipped it over the crossbar.

That's all for now.
