With her 31-point, 16-rebound outburst that propelled her team to its first-ever state championship appearance, Green Hope Kristen Gaffney met another milestone.
Her 1,000th point.
Gaffney started the game with 998 and now has 1,029. She's only a sophomore and has now scored double-figures in her last 41 games. Of those 1,029, 806 have come this year.
She is tops in the area in points this season and second in points-per-game with 26.0 per contest.
The active leader in points scored is Williamston's Kate Paschal with 3,142. The N.C. girls high school basketball record is 3,225, held by Clinton High alum Danyel Parker.
