Final Tri-9 baseball standings

Bookmark and Share

Holly Springs (pictured left) wrapped up the Tri-Nine Conference with a resounding 12-2 win over Athens on the regular season's final day. Athens and Middle Creek, both tied for second, will play at Apex on Monday for the rights to the second spot.

Rounding out the other two spots are Green Hope, which won seven of its last eight Tri-Nine games (only loss came to P.C.) and Lee County clinched the final spot with a 3-1 over Fuquay-Varina on the final night.

Apex, which lost 1-0 to Middle Creek on Friday, will have the best chance at a wild-card spot thanks to its .500 overall record. The Cougars have played in the third round of the playoffs in three straight years. Fuquay, another perennial power, could also get in as a wild-card.
