Monday marked the beginning of Coaches vs. Cancer week, so maybe you'll notice some coaches on the tele wearing white sneakers with their professional attire.
Middle Creek coach David Kushner and his assistants did that on Tuesday in their game at Apex. It was nice to see, but even classier was his decision to wear another piece of clothing.
Kushner said he had never worn pink in his life, but he wore a pink tie in honor of the late Kay Yow.
"I haven't been in this area long, but I've been here long enough to know what Kay Yow meant to a lot of people," Kushner said. "I'm just happy I got to coach in the same area as her."
As far as I'm concerned, there was no substitution or drawn-up play that could compare with that coaching move. Good stuff coach Kushner, good stuff.
