Clarke agrees to contract to coach RailHawks

Bookmark and Share

N&O columnist Luke DeCock has confirmed that the Carolina RailHawks have finalized a contract for Colin Clarke to become the RailHawks new coach, and the former Puerto Rico Islanders coach will be introduced at a press conference on Tuesday.

A reception for sponsors and other VIPs will be Wednesday, December 7th at 7:00pm at Tir na Nog in Raleigh.

Clarke has coached in Major League Soccer, leading FC Dallas for three seasons, and coached the Richmond Kickers to a 38-18 record while current RailHawks president Curt Johnson was the president there. Clarke has also played in a World Cup with Northern Ireland.

In 2010, Clarke led the Islanders to the USSF D2 Championship over the RailHawks.

Clarke will replace Martin Rennie, who coached the RailHawks for three seasons and has agreed to coach the Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS.

IndyWeek Sports reported that Clarke was the favorite for the job last month. IMSoccerNews confirmed that Clarke was not coming back to the Islanders early this week.
