Bookmark and Share
There will be four new members inducted into the Cary High Sports Hall of Fame this year. The 2009 class will include Megan Dudley, Michael Ripberger, Allan Gustafson and Cary Chaney.

We will have more on the inductees later this week online and also in next week's print edition of The Cary News and Southwest Wake News. But for a little background, keep reading below:

Megan Dudley (class of '97), formerly Megan Dillon in high school, was a two-time state quaterfinalist in tennis. She was all-conference and academic all-conference in all four of her years at Cary High.

Michael Ripberger (class of '80) captured the state title in the high jump in his each of his only two years spent in track and field. He went on to set the ACC record for the high jump while at N.C. State.

Allan Gustafson (class of '77) has coached five different athletic programs in 27 years of coaching at his alma mater. He is currently the head coach for the varsity boys basketball team.

Cary Chaney (class of 2000) was named to all-conference teams in football (after finishing second in the state for receiving yards), basketball and made All-State in track. He went on to compete in track at UNC after finishing twice as the state runner-up in the high jump.
