Cary Academy girl swimmers win TISAC championship, boys take second

At the TISAC Championship swim meet, Cary Academy’s boys 200 freestyle relay team of Matt Rushin (’12), Kayvan Daragheh (’10), Joshua Rowsey (’09) and Austin Crockett (’10) broke the school record with a time of 1:33.20.  Also Matt Rushin (’12) lowered his own school record set earlier this season in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:07.70.

 

Also of special note:  The TISAC swim coaches named Cary Academy's Georgia Van de Zande (’11) the female TISAC Championship Meet MVP. 

 

Georgia took home 4 blue ribbons (out of four possible swims) for finishing first in her two individual events and for anchoring two of the Chargers’ three winning female relays, thus securing on her own and with her relay teammates the single All-Conference spot in four of eleven events.

 

In all, the 2008-2009 Cary Academy swimming program boasts 7 All-Conference swims out of 22 total events (6 out of 11 spots for girls):

·         Girls 200 Medley Relay:  Alex McKay (’13), Rachel Hatt (’14), Maggie Kneifel (’11), Nikki Randall (’10)

·         Girls 200 Freestyle:  Georgia Van de Zande (’11)

·         Girls 50 Freestyle:  Kelsey Parker (’09)

·         Girls 100 Freestyle:  Georgia Van de Zande (’11)

·         Girls 200 Freestyle Relay:  Kelsey Parker (’09), Nikki Randall (’10), Jessica Rowsey (’12), Georgia Van de Zande (’11)

·         Girls 400 Freestyle Relay:  Kelsey Parker (’09), Rachel Hatt (’14), Jessica Rowsey (’12), Georgia Van de Zande (’11)

·         Boys 200 Freestyle Relay:  Matt Rushin (’12), Kayvan Daragheh (’10), Joshua Rowsey (’09), Austin Crockett (’10)
