Andy Knox qualifies for U.S. Junior Amateur Championship
Andy Knox, a rising senior at Apex High School, has qualified for this summer's U.S. Junior Amateur Championship after placing in the top-four at the sectional qualifier yesterday at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary.
Knox finished third after shooting a 69 in the first round and following that up with a 70 in the second.
This year's U.S. Junior Amateur Championship will be at Trump National Golf Club at Bedminster, N.J. from July 20-25.

J. Mike Blake is a recent graduate of N.C. State who grew up playing against the same Western Wake schools he now covers. At Western Harnett, he defeated the likes of Cary, Apex, Green Hope and Middle Creek repeatedly in basketball, but never once defeated them in tennis. Over the past year, J. Mike has been an N.C. State beat writer for WRAL.com, covered the ACC Tournament and worked on Football Friday for one and a half seasons.
