Scott Kooistra, Cary High ('99)

The National Football Post reported yesterday that the Baltimore Ravens have signed Cary grad Scott Kooistra. Kooistra is in his eighth year in the NFL after being drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round of the 2003 draft.

After graduating from Cary, Kooistra and teammate Austin Herbert (who was just inducted into the Cary High Sports Hall of Fame) both went to N.C. State on athletic scholarship.

Kooistra started at tackle for the Wolfpack but has spent almost all of his NFL career at guard. He's also spent all of his NFL career in the AFC North, having played for the Bengals, previously signed by the Browns and now playing for Baltimore.

Kooistra, 29, has played in 84 NFL games with one start.
