Tom Suiter's last appearance doing sports on WRAL-TV's nightly newscast came Thursday, marking the end of an era. The N&O's Neil Amato caught up with Suiter to reminisce about a career that lasted more than 35 years in Raleigh and made him a local television institution. Amato's piece will be published in Saturday's editions of The News & Observer.
Suiter, who is being replaced by Jeff Gravley on the 6 p.m. newscasts, will continue the station's "Football Friday" high school coverage and contribute other features.
