FOX Sports Carolinas and SportSouth will swap hockey analysts when the Carolina Hurricanes visit the Atlanta Thrashers at 7 p.m. Saturday. During the second period, Thrashers analyst Darren Eliot will join Hurricanes play-by-play announcer John Forslund, and Canes analyst Tripp Tracy will join Thrashers play-by-play announcer J.P. Dellacamera. ESPN pulled a similar gimmick in January, assigning its NBA crew of Mike Tirico, Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy to the Davidson-Duke game and having Dan Shulman and Dick Vitale work a Denver-Miami NBA game.

Tripp Tracy
Thu, 04/23/2009 - 19:31 — tleversCan we please get rid of him?? He doesn't know if he's in RBC Center or Pru Center!! He doesn't add anything to the play by play. HE SUCKS!!!!
You are correct
Tue, 03/03/2009 - 13:35 — xpukguyYes, it has been done before. But this is the type of media coverage you get when you have a reporter who just burps out press releases.
This is considered an upgrade, addition by subtraction. Eliot is outstanding with Forslund while Tracy could sink the Titanic.
And, on a side note, will we get a wire story tonight or will the N&O actually send a reporter?
Because..... this is our team, our tradition.
Tracy has already done this
Fri, 02/27/2009 - 19:37 — jwalther420Just an FYI...Fox Sports has already done this swap before...I believe last season. Tripp and Darren Eliot swapped during the second period.
