Finding Canes on satellite TV ...

Bookmark and Share

As stated in a previous post, it can be confusing to find the Carolina Hurricanes' live game coverage by FOX Sports Carolinas on satellite television, particularly the Dish Network. It doesn't help that FS Carolinas and FS South are virtually the same, except when there's Carolina-specific programming such as a Canes or Charlotte Bobcats game.

Then the satellite TV provider will kick FS Carolinas to an alternate channel. For example, FS South is on Dish channel 420, and the Canes' loss last night to Florida was shown on channel 444. Generally, the alternate Dish channel for FS Carolinas is in the 444-452 range.

But one Canes fan who recently bought Dish's Turbo HD package found that he didn't get channel 444 with his "local" channels, and Fox now may have an issue with the level of carriage given to FS Carolinas. The network is checking into it.

DirecTV's web site lists channel 648 for FS South, but Kyle Hanlin of the Hurricanes says DirecTV's dedicated alternate channel for Canes games is 645, and that isn't changed. So jot it down.
