Raleigh SCORE seeking volunteers to counsel small business owners

Bookmark and Share

Are you, or have you been, a small business owner? Do you enjoy passing your experience to others? Are you willing to commit six to 10 hours per month assisting other entrepreneurs start or expand their business dream?

If so, Raleigh SCORE, which is looking for volunteer counselors, would love to talk with you.

Raleigh SCORE is a nonprofit resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration. It is one of about 400 chapters nationwide. SCORE offers free small business mentoring and low cost educational workshops.

New volunteers would join a team of more than 65 mentors who counsel clients at seven different locations across the Triangle. SCORE has locations in downtown Raleigh, Morrisville, Cary, North Raleigh and Durham.

Reaching a greater number of existing small businesses in the Triangle is one of the chapter’s primary goals for 2013.

As a mentor, you’d be scheduled for an average of two client counseling sessions per month. The sessions consist of three, one-hour meetings with three clients. You’d be paired with another mentor at each session.

You are encouraged to individually work with the clients you feel could benefit from continued mentoring. In addition, SCORE will ask that you attend a monthly general chapter meeting, and, if your schedule permits, to participate on one of their many committees.
