Honey’s Restaurant and Catering in Durham will close Sunday.
“We are officially closing the doors at 3 p.m. on Sunday,” said Buck Dickerson, owner of the 24-hour diner that has been serving the Bull City for more than 50 years.
Last year, Dickerson learned that Holmes Oil Co., which owns the Honey’s land and building, is planning to take a different direction with the property at the busy intersection of Guess Road and Interstate 85.
Dickerson said it is his intention to open up a smaller restaurant with the Honey’s diner flair under a different but similar name. Dickerson said he working to lease a location within two miles of the current restaurant, but couldn't say when the new operation might open.
