John Wall, the No. 1-ranked high school basketball player in the country, and his Raleigh Word of God teammate C.J. Leslie were held out of Wednesday night's 72-40 loss to Wilson Greenfield.
Word of God athletics director Kevin Washington said they did not play for disciplinary reasons, but both are expected back in the lineup on Friday night at home against Quality Education.
"They are students first and athletes second," Washington said without elaborating on the cause of the disciplinary action.
"Everything is fine now. They needed a little discipline and they accepted it."
Wall, a 6-foot-4 point guard, is ranked No. 1 in the country by rivals.com. He has not made his college choice.
Leslie, a 6-foot-8 forward, is one of the top juniors in the country. He has made a verbal commitment to N.C. State.
