N.C. State basketball Sidney Lowe contacted Athens Drive forward Josh Davis shortly before Davis left for last weekend's North-South All-Star Game at Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Davis visited the State campus on Monday and promptly accepted a basketball scholarship offer.
The 6-foot-6 Davis set an all-star game record with 10 rebounds in North Carolina's 106-82 victory over the South Carolina all-stars. Davis also scored 15 points, making all five of his field goal attempts and adding five free throws.
"State had been involved for a while, but as far as getting him in and signing him, it happened very quickly," said Athens coach Robert Clemons. "Naturally, he is very excited. "
Davis averaged 25.1 points for the 22-6 Jaguars.
Davis committed on the same day that State starter Brandon Costner and reserve guard Trevor Ferguson announced they will not return for their senior seasons.
