Webb Simpson paired with Peyton Manning

Bookmark and Share

Former Broughton golfer Webb Simpson is paired with Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament on the Monterey Peninsula in Calif.

The format for the week consists of each professional playing with a celebrity for the first three rounds on three different courses – Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills. After Saturday’s round, the professionals will be cut to the low-60 and ties as well as the top-25 Pro-Am teams. The final round will be played at Pebble Beach.

This is Simpson’s first full season as a member of the PGA Tour after graduating from Wake Forest last May and earning his PGA Tour card through Q-School in December. He has made all four cuts and is currently 17th on the official money list.

Manning is coming off another successful season in which he was named the NFL’s MVP for a record-tying third time and he played in his ninth Pro Bowl last weekend in Hawaii. For the record, Manning is listed as an eight handicapper.

Coverage of the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday can be seen on the Golf Channel for 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. while the final two rounds will be aired on CBS from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
