Wall says UNC is not recruiting him

Bookmark and Share

University of North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams called top-ranked point guard John Wall on Thursday night, but Wall said the Tar Heels are not recruiting him.

"It wasn't anything major," Wall said. "He just called to check in, see how I was doing, what was going on. It's nothing big.

"North Carolina is not recruiting me right now."

Asked would he be interested in North Carolina if it began recruiting him, Wall said,  "That's something we'd just have to wait and see."

Wall said earlier this week that Memphis was his leader, but that was before Coach John Calipari left for Kentucky. After Calipari's exit, Wall said Memphis was no longer his leader and
that he had added Kentucky to his list. He was emphatic that Kentucky
was not his leader and that he has no leader anymore.

Also on his list are Duke, N.C. State, Baylor, Kansas, Memphis, Miami and Kentucky.

Friday, the Raleigh Word of God senior said he is still considering Memphis and is waiting to see who it names as head coach.

Wall is a 6-foot-4 point guard and the No. 1-ranked player in the country by rivals.com.

He has scheduled an official visit to Miami.

One Year U....

Looks like Wall's summer coach hasn't been getting his ego blown by the coaches at UNC enough......Memphis is your choice....home of <20% graduation rates for its basketball program....and even less emphasis on student athlete...going to class...don't bother!! A perfect marriage for John Wall.....as for his summer coach.....just another slime ball, who's making his way through life by taking advantage of the 16-18 year olds who have talent!! What's your 8-5 job coach?? What are you bringing to the table other than profiting financially and exposure wise from the kids?? SCUM...pure SCUM!

it's very doubtful

that "mr wall" will be graduating from ANY college or university any time in the near future. He is forced (by the NBA) into this farce for no good reason other than the NBA can't show any self restraint when exploiting young talent.

mr.wall will spend his purgatorial one year in some desperate institution of higher learning while amazing the NCAA fans, and then it's off to rich and famous he goes..

Make the right decision!

Every other day we are hearing in the news about who is contacting John Wall. This is getting to be a bit much. Mr. Wall should be worrying about which school has shown loyalty to him and which school he will be proud to say he graduated from. We all know that graduating from any college is not his top priority right now. Only John and his family knows which coach showed the most interest in him when the others would not give him the time of day. He also knows which coach is the most concerned about his well being outside of basketball. Mr. Wall you have a big decision to make and there is more to life than basketball and money. We have seen so many players get to the end of their careers and wish that they had listened and made a different choice. Coach Calipari may be a great salesman, but do you really think that he cares about you personally? I don't think so. Sit with your mom and the two of you discuss the pros and cons of each coach, and I guarantee the two of you will come to the same conclusion as to which coach cares the most. The one that was there from the beginning.
