Wake Forest names boys basketball coach

Bookmark and Share

Wake Forest-Rolesville has named former football and basketball standout Reggie Lucas as its head boys varsity basketball coach.

Lucas succeeds Chuck Hess, who has retired.

Lucas played for famed WF-R boys basketball coach Larry Lindsey and helped led the Cougars into the regional playoffs as a junior and senior. He also started at quarterback on the football team.

He played cornerback at Lenoir-Rhyne and returned to Wake Forest to become a teacher. He coached football, basketball and track at Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle before moving to the high school in 2001.

He has been WF-R's head track coach and the defensive coordinator for the Cougars' football team.

Wake Forest also has named veteran coach Don Murry as its athletics director.
