State's Fowler impresses NCHSAA

Bookmark and Share

Charlie Adams, the executive director of the N.C. High School Athletic Association, praised N.C. State athletic director Lee Fowler during an NCHSAA  regional meeting Thursday at State's Carter-Finley Stadium.

Adams recalled that Fowler contacted the NCHSAA within the first three weeks of accepting the AD job and volunteered the Wolfpack facilities  for any state championship event. State currently hosts 11 NCHSAA state championships.

"The NCHSAA doesn't have a better friend than Lee Fowler," Adams told the group of 327 high school superintendents, coaches and athletic directors.

Fowler said State has received a lot of support in hosting the championships. Not only do the State coaches try to work around NCHSAA events, but the Atlantic Coast Conference has been helpful in letting State move events to accomodate the high schools.

"We want North Carolina school children on our campus," Fowler said. "Not just the athletes and coaches, but the fans, too. Hosting NCHSAA championships is very important to us. We are very lucky to have these facilities and we want to share them."

The NCHSAA also is expected to allow its girls basketball teams to play one game each season with the proceeds going to Wolfpack coach Kay Yow's breast cancer fund.

I thought Charlie Adams had

I thought Charlie Adams had been fired for all the BS he had done already for NC high school athletics. It's about time we had someone who was actually working for the NCHSAA and not for Governor Sleasly.
