SOUTHERN PINES Scott Novicki of South Lenoir has a two-shot
advantage over the field after the first day of the 24th annual North

at the Longleaf Golf and Country Club on Monday.

Novicki fired a two-under par 69 on Longleaf's par-71,

at
one-over 72 in third, followed by Miller Capps of North Lincoln and
Rich
Leeper of Carrboro at 74, five shots back.
