Sanderson High football coach Tony Lewis also will assume athletic director's duties on July 1 after veteran AD Bob Catapano steps down.
The Raleigh school has had only three athletic directors in its 42-year history. Jim Brown was the AD from 1968 until
Catapano assumed the position in 1983.
Lewis has been a member of the Sanderson faculty for the past seven years, teaching Health and Physical Education and coaching football and track & field.
He will continue as head football coach.
Lewis previously, he taught and coached at Enloe High School and Eastern Wayne High School. He is a graduate of East Carolina University (BS 1989, MAED 1991).
