On Tuesday night, Thomas Young (pictured above right playing in the CCSSL) became the first Panther Creek baseball player in school history to commit to a Division I college baseball program.
Young, who plays third base and pitches for the Catamounts, gave his verbal committment to Gardner-Webb University of the Big South Conference.
The senior excelled this summer playing with the Cary Independent baseball team that finished runner-up in the Central Carolina Scholastic Summer Baseball League.
Young hit .382 last year for Panther Creek, striking out just four times in 68 at-bats. His fastball topped out at 89 miles per hour.
