Ravenscroft junior Caroline Lindquist was named as its 2010-11 Gatorade North Carolina Girls Soccer Player of the Year.
The 5-foot-7 junior midfielder has led the Ravens to a 16-1-1 record and a berth in the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Class 3A state quarterfinals, scheduled for May 17.
Lindquist scored 11 goals and passed for eight assists through 18 games. A member of the U.S. Soccer Federation Under-18 Women’s National Team, Lindquist did not play high school soccer as a sophomore. She was a Triangle Independent Schools Athletic Conference First Team selection in 2009 and 2011.
Lindquist has maintained a 3.92 GPA in the classroom. The founder and president of Ravenscroft’s International Microlending Club, which gives out small loans to entrepreneurs in developing countries, she is a contributor to The Living Hand, her school’s literary and fine arts magazine, and she has volunteered locally with the Special Olympics and as a youth sailing instructor.
Lindquist has verbally committed to play soccer on an athletic scholarship at the University of North Carolina beginning in the fall of 2012.
