Ravenscroft advanced the N.C. Independent School Athletic Association girls lacrosse championship game with a 17-9 semifinal victory over Durham Academy on Thursday.
The Ravens (14-4) will play at Charlotte Country Day (11-3) for the title on Saturday. The game time has not been set.
Ravenscroft knocked off the defending state champions by jumping out to a 7-3 halftime lead and then holding off a early second half rally by the Cavaliers.
Durham Academy scored the first three goals of the second half to close to within 7-6. but the Ravens answered with four consecutive goals to push the lead back to 11-6. The Cavaliers narrowed the gap to four goals, at 11-7, but got no closer.
The Ravens lost an earlier meeting this season with Charlotte Country Day, 17-13.
